A Memorable Year for Dallas Sports

It was an awesome year in the Dallas Metroplex as we saw two championship teams. In June we saw the Dallas Mavericks get revenge on the Miami Heat from 2006 to defeat them in the NBA Finals to become NBA World Champions for the franchise's first time. In October, the Rangers went on to win the American League West Division for the second year in a row. Their journey would land them back again as the American League Champions, but they would fall short in the World Series coming one strike away from winning the Series twice. The way the Rangers team is built you can still be hopeful it won't be their last appearance in the Fall Classic. Anyways I would like to wish you a Happy New Year and enjoy your 2012 year.

Morrow Will Play Against the Bruins.

The captain of the Dallas Stars was skating this morning and says that he will be ready to play tonight against the Bruins. After taking a puck to the knee he says it is feeling better. "There's still a lot of swelling in there," Morrow said. "I'm just trying to get some of that swelling out. But it's 'thumbs up' for the game." This is good news for the Stars, because it seems the Stars level of play goes up whenever their captain is in the game. The Stars will play their annual New Year's Eve game at the American Airlines Center tonight with the puck drop scheduled around 7:00. Locally in Dallas the game will be aired on KTXA 21 and NHL Center Ice channel on Direct Tv channel 785 and 785-1 for HD.

Mavericks Beat Raptors for First Win 99-86

Mavericks get win number one of the season. After losing last night's game against to the Thunder in a close match; the Mavs came out and dominated almost every aspect of the game. The only exception being in the third quarter when the Mavs got down by four. After that they came back and went on a 12-0 run to regain the lead. We saw for the first time this season the Mavs bring out their defense keeping the Raptors to only 86 points. The offense didn't look too shaky either. The bench had a nice outing giving the Mavs 56 points off the bench. The top three contributors off the bench were Vince Carter who got a solid 10 points, Jason Terry with 17 points, and Ian Mahinmi who had a career high 19 points on his part. Dirk Nowitzki to his credit had 18 points on the night. Overall a nice looking victory for the Mavericks to end the year with a win. The Mavericks next game will be in Minnesota taking on JJ Barea's Timberwolves who lost to Heat tonight 103 to 101 thanks to a buzzer beater by Dwyane Wade who was assisted by his buddy LeBron James. Barea didn't play due to a strained left hamstring. The game will be on January 1st 2012!!!

"He's going to be playing at full strength."

These are the words Jerry Jones said on one of his visits on 105.3 KRLD-FM on quarterback Tony Romo. Of course Romo as always will have the nay sayers believing that he will "choke" once again in a big game. This afternoon's Cowboys practice still featured Romo's hand wrapped up, and was limited in the participation. It is said that Tony won't play with a glove on Sunday's game against the NFC East rival New York Giants. Jones pubicly stated, "Romo is where we had dreamed that he would be and hoped he would be relative to after his injury last week." All I can say is Romo can silence the skeptics if they win the NFC East Title this Sunday night in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Mavs Pregame vs. Raptors

Tip off for the Mavs is less than an hour away. The Mavs will be playing tonight at the ol' American Airlines Center it will be on Fox Sports Southwest here in Dallas area. Dallas is coming off a heart breaking loss against the Thunder in Oklahoma City just last night with the final score being 104 to 102. Dallas comes into this game still without a win in their last three attempts. The Raptors are coming in with a .500 record at (1-1). If the Mavericks lose this game, then it could possibly be time for the fans to hit the panic button. Especially with the lock out shortened season.

Kari's Return Doesn't Live Up to the Hype

The Stars' Most Valuable Player goalie Kari Lehtonen made his return back to the Stars last night. Unfortunately this should have been a game in which the Stars should have won. Stars lost to the last place Columbus Blue Jackets to a final score of 4 to 1. Watching as a Stars fan it was obivous Kari has a little bit of rust since being out with that groin injury I believe 3 weeks ago. The lone Dallas goal came 8:57 into the first period by Vernon Fiddler getting his fifth goal of the season. Lehtonen stats were descent for a return with 25 saves with a save percentage of .893. Blue Jackets goal tender Steve Mason was on fire though with 36 saves with a save percentage of .973. Captain Brenden Morrow suffered a knee injury in the second period once a puck hit it. He is currently listed as probable against the Boston Bruins on Saturday.

Mavs Fall to the Thunder.

Just when I think the Mavs have the game wrapped up against the Thunder with about 1 sec left in the game, they let the game get away once again with Kevin Durant taking the buzzer beater shot to beat the Mavs 104-102. You can't blame this loss on Dirk that is for sure. Dirk was pretty hot he had 29 points with 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Carter even contributed 8 points, but in the NBA sometimes you need a little luck on your side to win games. The Mavs will look to bounce back tonight at home against the Toronto Raptors hoping and begging for a win already. Tip off for tonight's game is scheduled for 7:30 this evening.
